In 2003 a couple of mates in Australia had an idea to bring back the once fashionable mustache – think Burt Reynolds photo shoot circa 1972. That year they didn’t raise any money but they were so inspired by the conversation they decided to make it a fundraiser for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA). At the time, that first Movember check was the largest single donation the PCFA had ever received. That was the start of Movember Foundation which in the last nine years has raised over $446 million dollars for prostate research and cancer awareness programs.
Ryan Mathwig joins the Mo Bro’s and forms the Concrete Dusters
Fraserway Prekast & Vancouver Ready Mix’s own Ryan Mathwig has got the dusters going, and convinced the entire office to come clean and get rid of some much-loved staches’, beards and goatees. The crew is starting fresh like a baby’s bottom to help Ryan achieve his goal of raising $2000. Dennis Baker, General Manager tells us, “This is a great opportunity for some fun around the shop, working on team building and also raising money for a great cause. After all, 80% of our workforce throughout our organizations are men!” Don’t be macho, men need to look after their health and mental health.
Any donation big or small is appreciated. Go on, click on the Concrete Dusters page and add a few greenbacks to the pot. Fraswerway PreKast will be contributing matching donations. We’re a small company, but Movember allows us to open the dialogue about men’s health and to keep awareness as high as possible; driving the message home that it’s ok to get checked out or talk to someone if you need it.
