What is a Burial Vault?

A burial vault is a lined and sealed outer receptacle that houses the casket. A reinforced burial vault provides the casket with long-lasting protection against the elements and physical conditions such as ground water, heavy equipment and stacked burial sites. The burial vault also keeps the ground intact, preserving the beauty of the memorial park. Most cemeteries in British Columbia now require a burial vault.

Why Select a Reinforced Burial Vault?

There are three types of burial receptacles: the dome container, the grave box and the reinforced burial vault. A Wilbert® lined burial vault will provide the best protection available for your loved ones. Years after you select a reinforced burial vault the integrity of the casket and the grave site will be intact. The Wilbert® reinforced burial vault is made of the same concrete used for buildings. They are reinforced with a durable plastic or a combination of plastic and metal.

Urn Vaults

For those who prefer a cremation, there are many options. Many cemeteries require the urn to be in an urn vault, or ossuary. A cremation urn vault is a lined and sealed outer receptacle that houses the cremation urn, protecting it from the weight of the earth, cemetery maintenance equipment and subsoil elements.
